First Semester in College

FIRST SEMESTER IN COLLEGE....
is officially over =P

I think I did pretty well.
Pretty good grades
All Bs and above.....
as far as I know.
Our history professor won't let us see our official grade yet. *sad face*

Ah well. (= Snow has visited our little town already and we're (some of us...) hoping for snow!!!

One of the best things happened to me this semester!
I met my best friend, Mr. Mike Fisher (:
We met in our English class with the BEST english professor EVER!!!!!!!!
I had seen him before in the library in Mathews, but hadn't ever really talked to him before.
We went out to Salsa's and Walmart just as friends that first time, and the rest is history ^_^
He is the love of my life and I hope to spend the rest of my time here with him!
I love you sweetheart! <3

Down in the Dumps (4-27-10)

Hey. I know I haven't posted in a while. I've been having some troubles in my life. I've been so tired lately and I've got a court date for custody next Wednesday, so I'm SUPER stressed about that. I've been holding onto my best friend and God a lot lately and I've never been closer to Him before. He's truly carrying me right now and I'm so grateful to Him. There's no comparison to Him anywhere. I found my youth group and my church. I'm so at home there. The youth directors are fantastic people and go out of their way to reach out to people. The kids are awesome and they're so open to everyone. I love my new-found family. That's pretty much it for now. I'll try to post some time in the future.

Daily Blog (3-3-10)

UGH! What is with all this snow!!!!! So now I'm guessing that Memorial Day is out right? =( Definitely not cool, snow machine that seems to linger over Mathews. Go choke on a cookie... and not a nice warm sugar/choco chip cookie... a nasty, doesn't-taste-right oatmeal raisin cookie... and those aren't raisins =)

Anyway! I got caught up in a series that I started my sophomore year, but never bothered to finish. It's called The Kiesha'ra by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. It's about shapeshifters, almost like the Anamorphs that everyone used to read when my generation were in middle school. =) Pretty cool stuff! I'm on the second book, Snakecharm, which comes after Hawksong.

You know? I could swear that my Biology teacher hates me... I'm not going to name them, but my gosh! She must have a burr up her butt, like every single day! She eavesdrops on my conversations and then gives her very out-of-place and not needed opinion on the whole subject. I almost want to turn around and tell her that her days in the life of a teenager were EONS a long time ago.... like... dinosaur times...okay! okay! Maybe I shouldn't be so mean but come on! She had her time as a teen. Let us have our time... in peace!

Okay =) I'm off my soap box. Ranting is a good outlet and so is blogging! Yay for blogging!! =D

Burnt to a Crisp!

*POOF*
Another near-death experience

Oh wow... Today was one of the more interesting days I've had in a while. It all ended with my most recent "near-death" experience... My mom told me to go "fire up the grill" so we could cook the hot dogs for dinner right? Okay! So I got outside to turn the grill on and turn all three knobs to the "lighting" position. I press the ignition buttion and nothing happens. So I walk back inside (mind you that the grill is still on...) to get a lighter that my dad's using to light the fire in the wood stove. I grab it and run outside to go light the grill (which is still on...) I lift the grill plate so I can get a better angle. I fire up the lighter and stick it in the grill...
POOF!
I'M COMPLETELY COVERED IN FLAMES!

I scared the mess out of myself! The flames covered my head and my arms! I jumped back while screaming because I thought I was on fire right? Oh boy! I run back inside and start freaking out! I can smell the burnt hair from my arms and head (parts of my eyebrows and some of the few eyelashes I have...). I finally calm down after my dad goes out to finish the grill (turning each knob one at a time...).

Near death experiences are not fun... especially when you lose some hair over it. :(

(By the way! Burnt hair is the worst smell in HISTORY!!! Not even baby/horse/dog poo smells worse.... and that says something...)

Life

Life in General
is what keeps me happy.
I was told by someone just this week something that opened my eyes. It was a now-ex boyfriend who didn't really know much about the dating world. Well, when I go to tell him that it's just not working out between us, he looks puzzled and says, "But I'm the only thing in this world that keeps you happy. Why would you want to push me away?"
Well the first half of this really shook me. Did he really think that he's the only thing that keeps me happy in this world? If he genuinely thought that, I definitely put myself across him wrong!
Well I turned to him with a confused expression on and say, "You aren't the only thing in this world that makes me happy." It was definitely a first-time experience for me having to tell someone that they weren't the world, the moon, and the stars to me that they so desperately thought themselves as.

It's Just Another Day at MHS :)

Got kinda slapped in the face today with something that happened a while back. Eh... Life goes on. Only that part of the day was bad. The rest was fine! I had band today, so that's definitely a plus! We got to watch part of World Trade Center because our teacher got sick and didn't want to conduct. Our drum major conducted for a little bit today instead. She did pretty well. She was sight-reading from the conductor's score (what the conductor looks at to make sure that everyone is playing what they're supposed to) and didn't quite get the cues down, but it's okay. We managed to get it all out.
I had US Government today too. It wasn't too bad. I had three friends in there to do the work with. We had an open book test and we got to work together on it. :) Can't beat that!
I would have to say that Robotics was the best thing out of today. We finished our tower and can now work on getting the new kicker in. If you don't know this year's challenge, click here. It'll explain everything! :)
My favorite part about coming home, especially since Christmas Eve, are the puppies that I have at home. Our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Megan, gave birth to 8 amazing bundles of fluff on 12/24/09. :) Sadly, 4 died from the 26th to the 2nd of this year. We named them Annabelle, Clarice, Abby, and Emily. The 4 remaining puppies are absolutely adorable, at over three weeks old. They are walking and starting to growl at anything that startles them. We're keeping one and we're going to name her Chica, which means girl in Spanish. It's just amazing to us that she had an all girl litter! It doesn't seem possible with 8 puppies! Well I've got to go, you know... Chores and stuff :( They've got to be done!

Just Let Go... Let God.

Once upon a time, or as most tales go, a young gal with a heart full of love and compassion heard a story that made her very sad. Being two pennies short of common sense, she came to believe that she could fix this problem and therefore set herself up as a shield of protection.
Forgetting the words of John the Baptist, “I am not the Christ.” she stretched out her arms and stood in the gap between those who threatened harm and the one she was protecting. If she just tried hard enough, she believed or fought hard enough, protected long enough, everything would be okay.
Only everything wasn’t okay. The harder she stood her ground, the harder they fought and the more he seemed to need her. The more she did to protect him, the less he seemed willing to do for himself and the less honest he became.
Once she realized that no man carries a burden that someone else is willing to bear or faces a truth that no one is willing to tell him and that he’d grown weaker and not stronger like she’d hoped, she laid down his cross and took up her own.
She meant well and it almost cost her very life. In time she remembered the words of the one in the desert. The one who’s role was to make straight the crooked path, and point believers to the one who would come after him. She remembered that “standing in the gap” means standing in prayer and support, not in self sacrifice.
She found a note one day, written just for her and other two-penny-short friends who mean well. Together, she and her new friends, trudged the road of happy destiny. They laughed, leaned on each other, and stayed under the protective wings of the God they no longer needed to pretend to be.
